The main body of the building, dating back to the first half of the 14th century, was enlarged in the 16th century and finally heavily renovated in the 18th century by Andrea Sansovino.
A cloister with arcades at the bottom and a loggia on the upper floor was added on the left side in 1532.
The façade features a medieval Gothic portal with twisted columns and a rose window.
The interior, with a single nave and trussed ceiling, features frescoes from the school of Spinello Aretino (early 15th century), those by Paolo Schiavo, Pietà and Saints (second half of the 15th century), and those from the Florentine school (14th-15th centuries). In the presbytery, an Assumption by Giorgio Vasari (1539).
