Year: Fra 1569 e 1580
Current location: Sant'Agostino
Original location: Sant'Agostino
DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The Adoration of the Magi by Orazio Porta is an oil on canvas painting preserved in the Church of Sant'Agostino in Monte San Savino.
The work is currently located inside the nave of the church, where it is placed to the sides of the main altarpiece dedicated to the Assumption, created by Giorgio Vasari.
The painting is paired with another work by Orazio Porta, the Nativity, and both are signed by the artist and date between the late 1570s and early 1580s.
In style, the work reflects the language of late Tuscan Mannerism, characterized by rigorous drawing and a thick, textured paintwork typical of the Florentine school of the time.
