Dating back to the XIII century, “Porta aretina” and the new boundary wall constituted one of the gates to the ancient castle, accessible from the route “Madonna di Mercatale”. It was built during the period of the bishop “Guglielmino degli Ubertini”. This ancient door, together with other small towers, were destroyed during the Second World War.
